History

This breed comes from the Caucasus Mountains and is descended from ancient Molosser breeds.

Care and Health

Prone to hip dysplasia and cancer. Inbreeding is common with the breed so that comes with health problems. Large fluffy coat to keep the dog warm in winter requires frequent grooming and brushing.

Fun Fact

This breed will try to herd young children to keep them "in the flock."
